UNCG Jazz Ensemble II – In the Crown

UNCG Jazz Ensemble II celebrates trumpeter Kenny Dorham! Dorham’s subtle improvisational voice and compositional prowess loomed large over American music in the 1950s-60s; even the praise-cautious Miles Davis was an unashamed admirer of his Texas-born trumpet peer. Jazz Ensemble II brings a program of all-new, world-premiere big band arrangements of Dorham’s legendary compositions to The Crown on November 7 in celebration of Dorham’s centennial year.
