Welcome to the Forge introduction to pottery and glazing. This course is for those who wish to have a broader understanding of how to throw clay on the wheel and how to glaze your pieces to completion. This course is open to all skill levels from 13 yrs to adults. It’s for those who never got to play with clay to those who want to return to the mud for fun.
Students will be instructed by shop lead and instructor Ike Santiago on how to use the pottery wheel, tools, clay preparation, and glazes and glazing techniques.
This is a two-session course (total 6 hours.) On the first day, you will learn how to make your pieces and when you return for day two, you will be taught how to glaze your work. Students will be able to return to the Forge to collect their glazed pieces after they have been fired to completion.
*Your second class session is the following Monday at the same start time as your first class session.*
*To be successful in throwing pottery, participants must have short fingernails. Those with long fingernails may not be able to participate fully in this class*
There must be 2 people signed up for this class for it to run. A Forge staff member will reach out to you the weekend before your class if a cancellation or rescheduling of your class is required.
