I studied sculpture and illustration at UNCG and have been drawing my whole life. I took a professional pause to raise my daughter. I created the Fairy Field Guide when she wanted to talk to the fairies. Fairies being secretive and capricious, she could ask a question of the fairies and the "faries" would answer in illustrations and writing the next morning.
We did that for years and she would carry that book with her. People would see it and say how much they wish they had one. So we redid it in a more narrative professional version so people could share in the magic. The work I'm doing now stems from that fairy magic.
I've always been drawn to illustration. A I enter the next professional stage of my art career I seek to find new and interesting ways for people to consume and enjoy my art beyond two dimensional form.
